What Omada does
Omada SDN is TP-Link's centralized network management platform, managing access points, switches and gateways from one controller — cloud-hosted, a small hardware appliance, or self-hosted software. The free Cloud Essentials tier covers core management (zero-touch provisioning, VLANs, topology, WireGuard VPN) with no per-device fee; the paid Cloud Standard tier adds MSP multi-site management, IPS/IDS, deep packet inspection and Open API access on a per-device annual licence. It sits a tier below Aruba and H3C on price and management sophistication, aimed at SMB and mid-market networks rather than large enterprise campuses.
Where it fits
Network Infrastructure — SMB and mid-market wired and wireless builds where centralized management is wanted but enterprise-tier licensing costs aren't justified.
